Hello Lovely,
Happy Friday, or Friyay! Life feels like it is moving so fast to me, do you feel that? Either way, I want to share a little daily practice that really is helping me come home to gratitude at the end of the day. What is this magnificent tool of appreciation you ask? It's a simple yet powerful
Joy Jar.
A few years ago, Jesus(my hubby) and I did this together and had so much fun with it. We not only enjoyed thinking about and writing the highlights of our day but when we read them a year later we got to remember and re-feel those yummy feelings of joy and gratitude.
So about a month ago I decided to bring it back. My Joy Jar sits next to my desk and is a wonderful reminder of all the things that are going right, the "perfect" moments in life, the many blessings, the times when the stars feel aligned, little coincidences that have to be divine power having your back, and it keeps me in the flow of appreciation. It's a great practice before bed to lay my head on my pillow and let what went well that day lull me to sleep.
Wanna make one? It's so simple.
All you need is:
- a jar (joy jar) or a glass (glee glass) or box (bliss box) or any container really
- some paper
- a pen or pencil or marker or chalk
- willingness to reflect on the good stuff
Let it be fun! If you forget to add to it one night, add in the morning, this is an opportunity to let the good stuff flow so do it your way. And then decide when you'll go through and read them, just enjoy!
Here's a picture of mine, I even threw a love note from Jesus in there. You could add your kids art, a flower you picked, something someone wrote to you, anything that brings you joy. Maybe one day it will be the big life changing stuff and other days it's the simple everyday acts of kindness that we can easily let slip right past us. Savor that sweetness.
I'd love to see and hear about it if you create one.
Good vibes & zucchini,
Genna
